Dawn Dausman Nee Basham -- Nee Dawny

Editor's Note:  Hard to find a picture where Sarah and Dawn are NOT hugging!

“If we were left to ourselves with the task of taking the gospel to the world, we would immediately begin planning innovative strategies and plotting elaborate schemes. We would organize conventions, develop programs, and create foundations… But Jesus is so different from us. With the task of taking the gospel to the world, he wandered through the streets and byways…All He wanted was a few men who would think as He did, love as He did, see as He did, teach as He did and serve as He did. All He needed was to revolutionize the hearts of a few, and they would impact the world.”

Sarah was on mission without even trying!  Her simplicity and willingness to give grace after grace after grace was what led me to Christ authentically.  I love my Sarah Brown because she loved me exactly where I was, knowing there was no room for shame in relationship to the Gospel! Additionally, she was, by far, the most adventurous, silliest, willing to dream and act, and just be imperfect kind of friend.  To me, it felt like she was content to be imperfect (which we ALL are).  She accepted her limitations with grace and humor and laughed at what God granted her. And in that, she taught everyone that no one needs to be perfect, because there is no one who is perfect, except Christ.  It gave everyone who was with her the freedom to be content with who they were, as well.  And for me, that was all I needed to understand the love of Christ.  I remember that she told me that she’d prayed for Christian friends in grad school, and that God didn’t give her those, but MADE them, in me, and so many others with whom we walked through that season of life.  It is a joy and a blessing to call Sarah, my beloved friend.  And I am content to know that while we are apart geographically now, we will be together in Christ on the other side of heaven for eternity.  Praise be to God for making Sarah Brown exactly who she is.  God was good to give me her.

I love you downtown Sarah Brown Rutledge.  Thank you for your loyalty and love for me, and for so many others.

Love,
- Dawny
