Editor's Note: Sarah and I at Eileen's wedding. No kids, so this counts as a date!!! |
My dear sweet sister in-law and soulmate
to my brother,
What a blessing you have been to us over
the years since you joined the Rutledge family.
I wanted to find the photo of you wearing the special wedding beanie
with propeller that we made for you as an “are you sure you
know what you are getting into” gift but I couldn’t
find it. It didn’t take long to know
that you not only shared in Steve’s quirky sense of humor and fun, but
you also matched him in intelligence, heart and soul. Over the years I have appreciated your
servant heart towards our mother. You
have cared for her during really messy and difficult times, opening your home,
cleaning her up, and making her feel wanted and a part of your busy
family. I have appreciated your gentle
interest in the lives of my children.
You have been a mentor to them, always engaging them without judging or
criticizing them. You are creative and classy, earthy and real, direct and
articulate, bright and insightful, nurturing and kind. I love how you love your children. They are such a beautiful reflection of both
you and Steve. Each one knows beyond any
doubt that you know them fully, love them intensely and are completely dedicate
to their growth and development. It’s
obvious in the parties you throw them, the way you dress and feed them, the
creative play opportunities you give them, and the way you teach them about
God. I look forward to spending the
years to come together. Happy 40th
birthday Sarah! Welcome to an amazing
decade. May it be the best yet!!
Love, Eileen
